Airbnb Photography Services

Airbnb photography built on Airbnb data and experience

Most Airbnb photographers show up and shoot the rooms. We start with your market: what the top-performing listings near you show, what guests book for, and which features your listing should lead with. Then we build a custom shot list and photograph your space around it, so your listing page leads with what potential guests want to see.

The data behind the shot list

What 3,103 Airbnb listings taught us about photos

We studied 3,103 whole-home Airbnb listings using Surge market data: entire-place rentals active at least 180 days with three or more reviews, measured over the trailing 12 months as of October 2026. We compared similar homes, controlling for submarket, bedrooms, bathrooms, guest count, amenities, rating, review count, days available, host portfolio size, and interior design quality.

The lift showed up at every earnings level

The revenue gap was not limited to big, expensive homes. It held from listings earning under $20K a year all the way up to homes earning $50K and more.

This is an association, not a guarantee. Photos are one factor among many, and results vary by property and market. Read the full Airbnb photo study for the method and every number.

What the data says

What moves revenue in Airbnb photos, and what doesn't

Plenty of Airbnb photography advice is about looking impressive. We care about what is linked to bookings, so every session we offer is built around the four things that mattered and skips the extras that didn't. Here is what our study found.

What leads to more bookings

  • Styling

The biggest single driver in the study was how the space is styled: furniture, bedding, decor, and how finished each room feels on camera. We don't stage, but your prep checklist shows what to fix before the photo session, and if a room needs more than a checklist, we will tell you on the confirmation call.

  • Lighting and image quality

Bright, sharp, high quality photos with straight vertical lines, good lighting, and balanced natural light. Dark rooms, poor lighting, blown-out windows, and distorted wide-angle phone shots were the most common problems in bottom-quartile listings.

  • The cover photo

Your first image does most of the work in Airbnb search results, where people decide which listing page to open. We choose the cover based on what wins bookings nearby and what your guests book for, not on which room the photographer likes best.

  • Enough photos

Top-quartile listings had a median of 35 photos, versus 25 in the bottom quartile. Potential guests want to see every bedroom, bed, bathroom, and amenity before they commit to a stay.

What doesn't

  • Twilight and dusk shots

Popular, and many photographers offer them as an add-on, but they showed no measurable link to bookings in our data.

  • Drone and aerial photography

Rarely how guests choose where to stay. No measurable link to earnings in our data.

  • Text, logos, and collage graphics

Overlays and collages on top of images showed no lift. Guests want to see the space, not a flyer.

  • Reshuffling the same photos

Reordering weak images alone did not move the numbers. A good sequence helps strong photos tell the story; it can't rescue weak ones.

How it works

From checkout to photos in six steps

Booking takes a few minutes. The real work happens before the photographer ever walks in, and it is the part most Airbnb photography services leave out.

  1. 01

    Pay online

Choose the package that fits your property and pay securely through Stripe. It only takes a couple of minutes.

  2. 02

Pick a date 5+ days out

After checkout you go straight to our booking calendar. Choose any open date at least 5 days away that works with your guest calendar.

  3. 03

We research your property and market

Those 5 days are the planning most photographers skip, and the reason our professional photography looks different. We study the top-performing listings near you, what guests in your area book for, and which features your home should lead with, then build a custom shot list.

  4. 04

    We call to confirm

Your request shows as pending until we call you to confirm the appointment, walk through the shot list, and answer any prep questions you have.

  5. 05

    The photoshoot

We photograph your property against the shot list: every space guests need to see, the unique features that set it apart, and several cover photo options.

  6. 06

    Photos delivered in guest-decision order

Edited, high-resolution images arrive sequenced the way guests decide: cover photo first, then the rooms and amenities that close bookings, ready to upload to your Airbnb listing.

What's included

What you get with every photo session

Professional photography for Airbnb takes more than good equipment. Here is everything included in every package we offer.

Market research before the shoot

We find the top-performing listings in your area and city, the amenities guests filter and book for, and how competing homes present themselves, so your photos answer the questions guests actually have.

A custom shot list

Every property gets its own list of must-have images, so nothing important gets missed: each bedroom and bathroom, the kitchen and living space, outdoor areas, and the standout features (pool, hot tub, game room, view, workspace) that should open your listing.

A professional photographer on site

An experienced photographer with professional camera and lighting equipment, composition planned around the shot list, and enough time to capture every space properly instead of rushing through a fixed number of frames.

True-to-life editing

Color correction, balanced exposure, straight verticals, and clean window views. No fake skies, no edits that misrepresent the space. Accurate photos set accurate guest expectations, which protects your reviews.

A gallery sequenced for Airbnb

Your gallery arrives sequenced for Airbnb: the cover photo, then the spaces and amenities that matter most to your guests, so you can get your listing page updated without guessing.

Photos for every platform

Use your images on Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, and your own direct booking site, wherever hosts list. Horizontal frames that fit listing galleries and search results.

Why Surge

Photography from people who run short-term rentals

Surge manages short-term rentals in Texas and Florida, so we see what happens after the photos go live on Airbnb: which listings get bookings, which sit empty, and what guests mention in reviews. That hosting experience, plus the market data we use to price and position homes, shapes every shot list we write.

A typical real estate photographer is hired to sell a house once. Hosts need photography that keeps earning bookings for years. Airbnb photography has a different job: win the click in search results against all the other listings in the area, then answer a guest's questions fast enough that they book. That means leading with the features guests in your market pay for, showing every bed and bathroom clearly, making the space look exactly as inviting as it is in person, and making sure the photography is honest, so the reviews that follow are good ones.

Inside the shot list

Airbnb photography tips we build into every shoot

Taking photos that sell a stay is a different skill from taking photos that look good. Good Airbnb photography is a system, not luck. These are the basics every shot list covers, whether we are photographing a studio apartment or a large pool property.

Lead with your strongest feature

The cover photo should showcase what guests in your neighborhood pay for: a pool, a big kitchen, a view, or a bright, open living space.

Use natural light, then add light where it is needed

Open the blinds and curtains, turn on every lamp, and balance window light so rooms feel bright and warm without blown-out windows.

Shoot from corners and keep lines straight

Corner angles capture more of each room, and straight vertical lines keep the space looking true to life instead of tilted or stretched.

Show every bed and bathroom

Guests compare sleeping arrangements closely. Every bedroom, bed, and bathroom should be clearly photographed so nobody has to guess how the space works for their group.

Add close ups of the hot tub, game room, and details

Close ups and detail images of the coffee station, game room, hot tub, workspace, or fireplace help guests imagine the stay and answer questions before they message you.

Include the practical shots

Parking, the entrance, and how rooms connect build trust and set accurate expectations, which protects your reviews after check-in.

DIY or hire a pro

DIY Airbnb photos vs. hiring professional Airbnb photographers

Plenty of hosts get started by taking photos on a phone, and it is easy to see why: it is free and it takes an afternoon. It is easy to understand the appeal. The problem shows up in the data. In the bottom photo quartile of our study, the same issues came up again and again.

Good Airbnb photography takes skills most hosts have never needed: composition, managing natural light against bright windows, keeping vertical lines straight, and knowing which angles make a room read clearly in a small thumbnail. Hiring a professional photographer gets you the equipment, the lighting, and the experience. What we add is the planning: knowing what guests in your area are comparing you against before anyone picks up a camera.

If you have the time and the skills, DIY can work for a basic listing. If your rental is a real investment, compare the cost of a shoot with what more bookings are worth to you. In our study, homes with professional-quality photos earned 23% more revenue than similar homes with amateur-quality photos.

Common problems in amateur listing photos

  • Dark, underexposed rooms with harsh or mixed lighting
  • Wide-angle phone lenses that bend walls and distort the space
  • Repetitive, near-duplicate angles of the same room
  • Clutter and personal items left in the frame
  • A cover photo that doesn't show the property's best feature

Airbnb photography cost

What Airbnb photography costs, and what you are paying for

Airbnb photographer pricing varies depending on property size, location, and how much work happens beyond the shoot itself. Many Airbnb photographers charge for hours on site and a set number of edited images, and the average quote rarely includes any research. Our pricing is flat by property size because the work scales with the space: more bedrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor areas mean a longer shot list, more time on site, and more images to edit. Pool properties sit in the top tier regardless of bedroom count because the pool, patio, and outdoor areas add shots and setup time.

It also helps to weigh the cost against what your listing earns. In our study, listings earning $20K to $35K a year with professional-quality photos earned about 29% more, roughly $8,700 a year on a $30K listing. That is an association, not a promise, but it puts the price of a photo session in perspective.

What your fee covers

  • Research time before the shoot, which is why you book 5+ days out
  • A shot list written for your specific property, layout, and location
  • Time on site to capture every space, not a fixed photo count
  • Editing for accurate color, light, and straight lines
  • A gallery sequenced for Airbnb, ready to upload

Before the shoot

How to prepare for your Airbnb photoshoot

After you book, you get a prep checklist by email, a simple guide to what is required before the photographer arrives. The house needs to be cleaned and guest-ready when we arrive. We don't stage, move furniture, or bring decor, so what is in the space is what gets photographed.

Styling was the biggest driver in our study, so the checklist matters. If something on it is a stretch for your place or budget, raise it on the confirmation call and we will help you prioritize what is most important.

Guest-ready means

  • Clean every room as you would for a five-star check-in.
  • Make all the beds with fresh linens and put out clean towels.
  • Clear kitchen and bathroom counters and remove personal items.
  • Replace burnt-out bulbs, then open blinds and curtains.
  • Set up outdoor furniture and clean the pool or hot tub.
  • Move cars out of the driveway and off the street in front of the house.

Rescheduling and refunds

  • Full refund

If we can't confirm a shoot date with you, we refund you in full.

  • Free reschedule

Move your appointment for free up to 48 hours before the shoot.

  • After the shoot

Once the photoshoot is complete, the fee is non-refundable.

Common questions

Airbnb photography FAQ

How much does an Airbnb photographer cost?

Our Airbnb photography is a flat price by property size: $1,049 for a studio to 2 bedrooms, $1,349 for 3 to 4 bedrooms, and $1,749 for 5+ bedrooms or any home with a pool. Basic real estate photography shoots are often quoted for less. The difference is the value we add around the shoot: market research, a custom shot list, a confirmation call, and photos sequenced the way guests decide.

Do professional photos increase Airbnb bookings?

In our study of 3,103 whole-home Airbnb listings, those with professional-quality photos earned 23% more revenue than similar homes with amateur-quality photos,. That is an association, not a guarantee. Photos are one factor among many, and results vary by property and market.

Where do you offer Airbnb photography?

We currently book photo sessions for short-term rental homes in the Greater Houston area. If you are searching for an Airbnb photographer near you and your property is elsewhere, call or text (888) 616-8149 and we will tell you whether we can cover it.

Why do I have to book at least 5 days out?

Those 5 days are when we research your property and its market: the top-performing listings near you, what guests book for, and which features to put first. That research becomes your custom shot list. It is the part of the job that turns a photo session into listing strategy.

What happens after I pay?

Stripe sends you straight to our booking calendar, where you pick a date at least 5 days out. Your request shows as pending until we call to confirm the appointment and walk through the shot list. You also get a prep checklist so the home is ready on the day.

Do you stage or style the property?

No staging is included. We photograph the space as it is, so it needs to be cleaned and guest-ready before we arrive. Styling was the biggest driver in our study, which is why the prep checklist covers it in detail. If a room needs more than the checklist, we will say so on the confirmation call.

Do you offer twilight, drone photography, or other additional services?

Not as part of our standard shot list, and we don't offer staging. In our study, twilight shots and drone or aerial photos showed no measurable link to revenue, so we spend the session on what did: styling, lighting and image quality, the cover photo, and enough photos to show every space.

How long does an Airbnb photo session take?

It depends on the size of the property and the shot list. Larger houses and pool properties need more time. We give you an arrival time and an estimated duration on the confirmation call, so you can plan cleaning and access around it.

Do I need to be there during the photoshoot?

No, as long as we have access and the property is guest-ready. Tell us on the confirmation call how the photographer will get in, whether that is a door code, a lockbox, or someone on site.

How many photos will I receive?

Enough to show every space guests ask about. Top-quartile listings in our study had a median of 35 photos, and your shot list is built so you are never short on bedrooms, bathrooms, or amenities. The exact number depends on the size and layout of the property.

How do I receive my photos?

We send your edited, high-resolution images as a download link by email, sequenced and ready to upload to Airbnb, Vrbo, or your own booking site. We confirm the delivery timeline on your confirmation call.

Does this work for vacation rental photography beyond Airbnb?

Yes. The same photos work for Vrbo, Booking.com, and direct booking sites, and we offer the same process for every platform. Our short term rental photography is planned around how guests compare homes on any platform, and Airbnb is where most of our market research starts.

Do I need to use Surge for management?

No. We offer Airbnb photography as a stand-alone service for hosts and owners who manage their own listings or work with another manager. Surge also offers full-service short-term rental management in Texas and Florida if you ever want it.

What is your refund policy?

If we can't confirm a shoot date with you, you get a full refund. You can reschedule for free up to 48 hours before your appointment. Once the photoshoot is complete, the fee is non-refundable.
